Parker Merchanting one of the UK’s leading suppliers of construction equipment has opened a new branch in south east London to cater for contractors working on building projects for the 2012 Olympics.
And to celebrate Parker Merchanting invited Olympic hopeful and British champion gymnast Ross Brewer along to perform the opening ceremony at the branch in Ossary Road, Bermondsey.
Ross, 28, four times British champion and a favourite for the Britain’s two available spots at this summer’s Beijing Olympic Games, also decided to show his balancing skills on Parker’s safety barriers and traffic cones.
“I’m sure everyone from contractors working on the facilities for the London Games through to DIY enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the branch. It seems to have everything you could possibly need,” added Ross.

Mark Walker, Parker’s regional manager for the south east, said the new store would boast a trade counter for call and collect and a “pick and pack” express facility for customers.
“The branch will provide an even better delivery service into central London and in particular the Olympic sites which is great news for customers,” he said.
A sales team will also be located at the branch with an excellent working knowledge of the local area.
With more than 4,000 items in its core product range Parker Merchanting can fulfil any site order. This is backed by a superb distribution infrastructure of more than 18 regional branches across the UK; its own transport fleet and an extensive network of sales staff.
