Health and Safety Signs

]

All our safety signs fully comply with current regulations BS 5378 and BS 5499, as well as the Draft International Standard DIS 3864 Part 1, which requires the inclusion of a white border around all safe condition and fire exit signs. The purpose of regulations and directives is to encourage the standardisation of safety signs throughout the member states of the European Union, so that safety signs, wherever they are seen, have the same meaning.

Regulations state that text only safety signs are not acceptable, for example, a Slippery Floor sign must visually show a person slipping, as well as stating the warning in text. Fire Exit signs must show a symbol of someone running, as well as displaying a directional arrow. Streamlined colour coding is also used and is explained below:

Conforming with the Regulations

Employers are required to use a safety sign, which complies with current legislation, whenever there is a risk that cannot otherwise be controlled. Any existing signs used in the workplace that do not conform must be replaced.

As well as a wide range of signage that fully conforms to Health and Safety standards for design and colour, we offer a customised service for specific signs where the appropriate combination of signs can be mounted together. See our composite signs.

Also available is a comprehensive range of information posters which convey various important messages for the workplace.
